Seniors in the Fall ~ Meet Jackie

So here I was excited for this shoot. As I arrived all these feelings came flooding to me. I was thinking about this mother who was bringing her baby girl to me to capture a moment in time that will last a lifetime and photos that will bring back memories. I felt honored and at the same time I felt a huge sense of excitement and sadness. See, I am a mother. A mother to four beautiful children and this is going to be me one day. I am going to be taking pictures of mine just before sending them to college or whatever their next stage of life will be after graduating from highschool.

As I was taking these pictures I started to feel a bit emotional knowing that this girl, that this mother raised, was about to embark on a new journey. I had the privilege of getting to know them even better by walking around Green Lake, stopping where we thought would be an amazing place to photograph. Listening to Jackie talk about what she has planned next and watching her mother love her and soak in this moment was an absolute honor. Just had to pause….just for a second to enjoy this moment they had.

I loved being behind the camera to watch her mother look at her on the same level from one woman to another woman. No longer a baby. This is when I am reminded life is too short. You hear it all the time, right? It’s true. That moment you think you can’t get through when they are babies, or a stage that feels endless, is suddenly gone. They are grown, ready to spread their wings and see what their life has in store for them.

I am so blessed to be behind this camera. Because it’s not just a picture, it’s a story, a life, a future, a family, and a moment to stop just for a second……. Here are a few images from this photoshoot. Enjoy!!
